After a month of not posting a blog, I think I'll check in with everyone to see what's up. I've changed my blog name to Shadymont, My Mountain Home. The content won't change a lot, because home decor is my "thing". I'm not buying a lot of things, although I've gotten a few things in the month that I'll show you and I've also done a project that I am really enjoying so much.
As you may know, I live alone now, and that's fine. I'm not afraid to be alone, and the solitude is something I've always enjoyed in smaller doses. Weekends are hardest, but on Sundays I get to go to my wonderful little country church and get "refilled". It makes all the difference in the world in how my weeks go and how I feel. We are fed spiritually and all through the week I think of points made during our sermon, and it keeps me going.
The divorce still hasn't been finalized, but we go for mediation on the 19th, and if that works out, I don't think we have to go before the judge, he'll just sign off. The "almost ex" took lots of marital property with him back in December, that shouldn't have been moved, so things may get interesting. Personally, I just want it over with. Hanging in limbo isn't a lot of fun. Of course, I'm not looking for fun, more for peace, and closure. So hopefully, it won't be so long now.
Back to home decor.....I found four pictures (I really need some pictures to hang) that I couldn't pass up at GW. Y'all know that's my main shopping place for everything home related. These were $1.91 each and they just slid right into my cart because I knew exactly where they would go! Right in the room I use as an office, a bedroom, and library. At first I just saw two of them, but then I came across two more, so for a little over $5.00 they came home with me.
I can see I need to adjust the distance between them and straighten them some. It's strange how a photo shows all the errors!! :)
I was in the basement the other day and noticed an old microwave cart I had used in the old house, sitting there with dog food and all kinds of junk on it. And that light bulb went off in my head of a way to use it. So I washed it good, took it apart and painted it.
The bottom part is being used as a rolling island in my kitchen.
I like it lots better than the one that was in here. It belonged to my "ex" husband's son, so I told him to take it with him. It was so blasted heavy and it just took up too much space. With this, I can roll it wherever I need it.
I had a bunch of letters from an old project so I put "Gather" on the end, using a stencil to paint the T, R, and flower.
It had a top shelf as well, but I had another plan for that part. I painted it turquoise and added stick on swirly designs to it, and placed it atop my desk in my bedroom. I love having the extra space for all my goodies.
I've been thinking I might paint this desk white. What would you do, leave as is or paint it?
And I purchased one more item at GW. Y'all know I have an armoire and a 7 drawer dresser holding table cloths already, but this one just needed to come with me, so I brought it home too.
I love the colors, and you can't see it, but they are repeated in the rug I've had in here forever. Even some of the same designs. So it's a natural. It's been washed many times, I can tell, so if it gets stained or whatever, it's not a big deal. My granddaughter and I do lots of crafts at this table, so you never know.
Hope everyone is well and happy. Take care. I'll be back around before too long.
